WAUSAU – A pair of businesses received awards this week at the Wausau Region Chamber of Commerce’s third annual Manufacturing Excellence Awards.
Domtar Paper Co. received the 2018 Manufacturing Excellence Award in the large manufacturer category and Gamber-Johnson received the award in the small to medium manufacturer category. The large manufacturer category included those businesses with more than 300 employees, while the small to medium manufacturer category included businesses with fewer than 300 employees.
The manufacturers were honored on Oct. 16.
“On behalf of my 400 colleagues at the Domtar Rothschild Mill, we are very proud to have received this award,” said Dave Faucett, general manager at Domtar Paper Co. “We strive each and every day to not only make top quality products our customers rely on, but to do so in a sustainable manner. It is truly an honor and very humbling to be recognized by the local manufacturing community. We will display this award proudly for all employees, customers and visitors to see.”
“We are honored to be the recipient of the 2018 Manufacturing Excellence Award,” said Jason Lewandowski, vice president of engineering at Gamber-Johnson. “This recognition is the result of the outstanding efforts and dedication from the entire Gamber-Johnson team and our supply chain partners. We are proud of our central Wisconsin manufacturing roots.”
Congressman Sean Duffy was the keynote speaker at the event. In addition to delivering the keynote address, Duffy received the 2018 Spirit of Enterprise Award from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce in recognition of his consistent support for pro-growth policies at the federal level.
J & D Tube Benders Inc and Linetec received awards in 2017, while Nueske’s Applewood Smoked Meats and Greenheck received awards in 2016 in the Small to Medium and Large categories, respectively.
