WESTON — An internationally acclaimed interventionist will share his understanding of addiction, family systems and recovery during a special event in late November.

Jeff VanVonderen will present from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Nov. 29 at the D.C. Everest Middle School auditorium in Weston.

For more than 35 years, individuals, families and organizations have benefited from VanVonderen’s knowledge, according to the Marathon County AOD Partnership. VanVonderen is one of the featured interventionists on the A&E Network’s Emmy-winning documentary series called “Intervention.” He has authored various books, articles and journals, as well as been a guest on television and radio programs.

Addiction impacts the community on many levels, according to the AOD Partnership. Loved ones who are supporting those with addictions — including families, friends, neighbors and co-workers — are often overlooked, for example. It’s a difficult line between empowering and enabling and this session will help people raise up those who are struggling for long term sobriety and reduce the co-dependency that may result.

Pre-registration is requested, but not required for this free event, empowernotenablejvv.eventbrite.com.
