WAUSAU — A new community theater group is getting its start in central Wisconsin.

Out of the Woods Theatre is rehearsing for its first show, “It’s a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play,” with a script adapted by Joe Landry from the popular, classic holiday movie. And, while it may be the theater company’s first official performance, none of its cast members are strangers to the stage. All six actors have prior acting experience.

“We are so excited to add more acting and music opportunities to central Wisconsin,” said Nicole Stephens, manager of Out of the Woods Theatre, in a news release. “There is such an enormous pool of talent in the area and we look forward to making our own mark in the theater community.”

The theater troupe will hold its first already sold-out show at Thrive Foodery in Wausau on Dec. 5 and 6. That will be followed by “Little Women” in April, “Into the Woods” in June and “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” in the summer of 2019 at Monk Botanical Gardens in Wausau.

Its final show of the 2018-2019 season will be a dinner theater production in November 2019 at the Wausau Elks Lodge.
