WAUSAU — Rise Up Central Wisconsin will dedicate its Butterfly Memorial Mural, housed at the Marathon County Courthouse, this week.
The dedication will be held at 2 p.m. Nov. 14 outside the Branch 1 and Branch 2 courtrooms. The public is invited.
The mural puts into focus those who have lost the battle against addiction and those who are still in the fight, according to Rise Up. Each butterfly was painted by a family or friend in memory of someone who has lost their battle to addiction. It is an ever-changing mural and butterflies can be added at any time.
Rise Up aims to heal, strengthen and unify the community through publicly engaged art.
