Volunteer opportunities: Week of Jan. 7

Volunteer emergency personnel wanted. Are you a first responder, EMT, ambulance driver or firefighter who can donate time to the Hatley Fire and Ambulance District? The ideal person has a Wisconsin license and lives on the east side of Marathon County (village of Hatley, Reid, Bevent, Elderon and Norrie) or is willing to sit at the station if he or she lives further away. Training and certification is provided for some positions. Contact Terri at 715-571-6886.

Donated item processors. Help clean and sort donation items to get them on the floor for sale at St. Vincent DePaul. Contact Kim at 715-298-3028 or kkuske@svdpwausau.org.

Lifeline installer.  Go into the home of elderly and disabled people throughout Marathon County to install Philips Lifeline equipment. Show the subscriber how to use their personal help button and Lifeline unit. Basic knowledge of electrical and phone equipment, a valid Wisconsin driver’s license and willingness to troubleshoot issues is necessary. Monk Botanical Gardens membership representative. Host a table at events throughout the year to promote programs, answer questions and encourage memberships. Contact Darcie at 715-261-6309 or info@monkgardens.org.

Long johns and undergarments. Catholic Charities passes along warm thermal tops and bottoms to those guests who need them. Contact Tracy at the Wausau Community Warming Center at 715-849-3311, ext. 1729, or trieger@cclse.org.

Board games wanted. Gently used or new board games help families connect with each other and encourage children to learn new skills. To donate, contact Krista at 715-298-5719 or kmischo@unitedwaymc.org.
