WAUSAU — Wausau RiverWolves forward Janne Rukamp has committed to play Division 1 (ACHA) college hockey at Iowa State University, the Wausau RiverWolves announced this week.

Rukamp, a native of De Pere, Wisconsin, has played in 55 games during the past two seasons with the RiverWolves. In those games he has recorded 27 points with 13 goals and 14 assists, according to a RiverWolves news release.

“First of all, I would like to thank all of my Wausau teammates from past and present. I would also to like to thank coaches Tom Murphy, Colin Bailey, Tim Brownell and Jordan Schmidt for growing me not only as a player, but also as a person,” Rukamp said in the release. “Being able to play for an annually ranked top 5 hockey program, while also being able to pursue a history degree at Iowa State has been a goal of mine for the past two years.”

Rukamp and the RiverWolves are back on the home ice March 8. The doors open at 6:45 p.m., with the first puck dropping at 7:30 p.m. For tickets, visit riverwolveshockey.com.
