WAUSAU — A 23-year-old Wausau man is accused of repeatedly and violently sexually assaulting a young girl over a three-year span beginning when the suspect was age 15.

Jacob M. Wierzba faces charges of repeated sexual assault of a child, first degree sexual assault of a child younger than 13, and three counts of incest in a case filed March 26 in Marathon County Circuit Court. The alleged victim is a relative but is not a member of Wierzba’s immediate family, according to court filings.

The allegations came to light during a Nov. 26, 2018 interview at the Child Advocacy Center. The alleged victim, who is now 14, told investigators the assaults often happened in the basement of a home while unsuspecting family members watched television upstairs.

Court filings show the alleged assaults occurred between May 2011 and May 2014 in Mosinee. The girl told police Wierzba sexually assaulted her, took photos of her vagina and told the alleged victim she “would be sorry” if she told anyone.

A judge on March 28 authorized an arrest warrant for Wierzba, who is not in custody at this time and has no prior criminal record in Wisconsin.

Wierzba faces up to 160 years in the Wisconsin Prison System if he is convicted of all the charges filed against him.
