Judy Koy

Judy M. (Nelson) Koy, 79, went to her Lord and Savior on Saturday, March 30, 2019, surrounded by her family at her home, under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services.

She was born June 9, 1939, in Escanaba, Michigan, daughter of the late Larry and Sara (Viau) Nelson. On Oct. 30, 1971, she was united in marriage to Gary Koy at St. Catherine Catholic Church, Milwaukee.

Judy worked for the F.W. Woolworth Co. in Escanaba for six years, then was promoted to their central accounting office in Milwaukee. It was here that she met and married her husband Gary. They moved to Wausau and in 1972 she started working for the Marathon County Clerk of Courts Office. She was promoted to assistant clerk of courts, retiring in 2002. She had a lifelong love of flowers and after retiring became a master gardener. She traveled extensively visiting 47 states and four countries. She excelled at cooking, baking and canning from her vegetable garden.

Survivors include her husband, Gary Koy, a son, Scott (Denise) Koy, Wausau, two grandchildren, River and Emmalee Koy, who were the love of her life. She is further survived by her siblings, Mona Gardener, Bonnie (Roger) Pepin, and Ron Nelson, all of Escanaba, Jan (Vic) Perigini, Mukwonago, and June (Tom) Kraus, Eaton Rapids, Michigan. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Gerald and a sister, Otella Pilon.

The funeral Mass will be celebrated at noon Thursday, April 4, 2019, at St. Matthew Catholic Church, Wausau. Rev. Robert Thorn will preside. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 3:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 3400 Stewart Ave. and again on Thursday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of services at the church. Rosalie Duranceau

Rosalie Ann Duranceau, 75, Wausau, died Monday, March 25, 2019, at Our House Senior Living, Wausau.

Rosalie was born May 7, 1943, in Wausau to the late Lester and Frances (Richards) Duranceau. She was a graduate of Wausau High School. She worked as a cashier for several grocery stores in the Wausau area over the years.

Rosalie always had a joke to tell. She enjoyed crocheting blankets for friends and family, especially Packers blankets.

Rosalie is survived by her daughter, Sheila Stafford; her grandchildren, Rachel and Alex Samuelson; brothers, Delbert, Floyd and Leonard Duranceau; her sisters-in-law, Marlene Hiebl, and Mary Duranceau; plus many, many, nieces and nephews, cousins and extended family. She is preceded in death by her siblings, Edna Schultz, Harold Duranceau, Daniel Duranceau, Ione Czech, Roy Duranceau and Audrey Bailey.

Rosalie will be inurned at Restlawn Memorial Park at a later date.


Donald Traeder

Donald A. Traeder, 84, entered into his eternal home in the early morning of March 30, 2019, with his loving wife by his side at Mount View Nursing Home, Wausau.

Don was born June 18, 1934, in Abbotsford, Wisconsin, to Daniel and Helen (Beilke) Traeder, the youngest of four children. He was a 1952 graduate of Wausau High School and worked for Cities Service Station during high school. He was drafted into the U.S. Army and served two years in Korea as a mechanic. He was injured during his service and returned to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, for his hospital rehabilitation. Once out of the hospital, he worked for Lou Ehlers auto dealership in Shorewood – Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Upon the death of his friend and mentor, Les O’Brien, Don returned to Schofield, Wisconsin, to take over Cities Service Station. He married his girlfriend of many years, Joyce O’Keefe, in 1959 and raised four sons together in Schofield. He closed Cities Service in 1968 and worked for Drott/J.I. Case, Schofield, in assembly, becoming a heavy equipment demonstrator throughout the world. He ended his career working in the research and development department of the company prior to retirement.

Don always loved cars and anything about them, at one point working in the pit for and racing with his brother, Gordon, during his racing career. He was a member of the Wausau Antique Car Club and seldom missed any car shows in the area, including annual trips to the Iola Car Show until his health prohibited such trips. He was a local neighborhood character, well-liked by his friends and neighbors for his mechanical knowledge and willingness to help with just about anything that needed fixing. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and will be missed by all.

Don is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Maynard (and wife Millie) and Gordon (and wife Eunice), brother-in-law Leon Meyer, and his youngest son, Daniel. He is survived by his sister, Bernadine, Rothschild; love of his life, Joyce, Schofield; his sons – Kevin (Debra), Schofield; Thomas (Joy),Wausau; and James (Lisa Hanne), Hatley; seven grandchildren – Taylor (Brittany), Schofield; Kyle (significant other Jacob Wellman), Wausau; Noah (Sara), Rib Mountain; Ian, Schofield; Kayle (fiancé Dylan Waldner), Hatley; Tristan and Tucker, Wausau; five great-grandchildren – Isaac Hayes, Brayden and Olyvia Pratt, Maxine Bauer-Traeder and Lydia Traeder, plus two great-grandchildren on the way. A private family service will take place at John J. Buettgen Funeral Home on Thursday, April 4, 2019, officiated by Father Louis Britto of St. Therese Catholic Church.
