WAUSAU — Los Angeles-based vocal jazz group m-pact will showcase its talents at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point at Wausau’s sixth annual Vocal Jazz Festival, April 11-12.

During the two-day festival, m-pact will work with UW-Stevens Point at Wausau choirs and 10 high school and college choral groups from around the state. The group will also give a public concert at 7 p.m., April 12 in the James F. Veninga Theater, in the UW Center for Civic Engagement, 625 Stewart Ave., Wausau.

“Never before has the vocal jazz festival welcomed such internationally recognized artists,” said Timothy Buchholz, assistant professor of music at UW-Stevens Point at Wausau, in a news release. “Knowing they are also gifted educators makes them the perfect choice for our festival.”

M-pact is respected worldwide and has performed with pop superstars Sheryl Crow, Boyz II Men, Natasha Beddingfield and Ray Charles, as well as with jazz legends Natalie Cole, Bobby McFerrin and the Maynard Ferguson Big Band.

General admission tickets for the concert are $15. UW-Stevens Point students may attend for free.
