The following significant incidents were reported to the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department for the week ending June 17, 2018:

An 81-year-old Langlade County man was injured in a single vehicle crash Tuesday in the town of Schley. The driver struck a power pole and overturned at on County Rd C at Schielke Rd causing live wires to come down. The driver, from Deerbrook, was transported to Ascension Good Samaritan Health Center before he was taken to the trauma center at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.

A 27-year-old Merrill woman was arrested Wednesday evening when a traffic stop in the town of Merrill led to the alleged discovery of drugs. A deputy stopped the vehicle on County Rd JJ near Ash Drive at 5:18 p.m. for expired registration. When the K9 Nina arrived on the scene she alerted to the odor of illegal drugs in the vehicle which led to the discovery of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. The woman was brought to the Lincoln County Jail where she was charged with possession of methamphetamine, bail jumping and probation violation.

A 48-year-old Merrill man, a resident of the Lincoln County Jail, will face an additional charge of criminal damage to property after he allegedly damaged video phone equipment in the jail.

A 23-year-old Tomahawk woman was arrested Friday night on drug charges following a traffic stop in the Town of Merrill. A deputy stopped the vehicle on US Hwy 51 near County Rd K for speeding at 11:16 p.m. When the deputy made contact with the driver he detected the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. The passenger admitted possessing several bags of the drug. She was arrested for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Deputies arrested a 28-year-old Chicago woman after she was involved in a theft from a town of Scott business Saturday evening. A representative from the business called police just before 10 p.m. to report the suspect had been in the store and took items before leaving in a vehicle. A deputy located the vehicle a short time later.  K9 Poncho altered to the odor of drugs in the vehicle. The woman admitted to smoking marijuana. Deputies also found several items linked to other drug use and found the woman was out on two felony bonds in Marathon and Waupaca Counties related to the possession with intent to distribute drugs including cocaine along with retail theft.

A 37-year-old Merrill man was arrested Sunday evening on drug charges following a traffic stop. A deputy stopped the vehicle for expired registration. When the deputy made contact he detected the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. A search turned up marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

The number of deer crashes remains high with ten being reported this past week. A mother bear was struck and killed Thursday evening on US Hwy. 8 outside of Tripoli leaving three cubs behind. The Wisconsin DNR was working with Wild Instincts out of Rhinelander to recover the cubs.
