Marathon County Public Library activities: Week of June 23

The Marathon County Public Library will host several events in the coming weeks at its various libraries.

Let your imagination soar as you create your very own flying saucer June 24-28 at the Athens Branch, 221 Caroline St., Athens. Drop in any time the branch is open throughout the week to create your own spacecraft using bowls, aluminum foil and other craft supplies! Free. Call 715-257-7292 for more info.


Kids will have the chance to make their own flying saucers during a week-long craft event running from June 24-29 at the Rothschild Branch, 211 Grand Ave., Rothschild. Toddlers can enjoy a music and movement-themed story time and dance party on June 24 from 11-11:30 a.m. at the Wausau Headquarters, 300 N. First St., Wausau. Each session will include stories followed by dancing with music, scarves, bubbles and more! For more info, call 715-261-7220.


Kids can attend a summer craft day at the Edgar Branch, 224 S. Third Ave., Edgar, on June 24 from 1-7 p.m.! A different craft project will be offered each Monday throughout the summer. Free. For more info, call 715-352-3155.

Children’s magician Magic Bob will take kids on an adventure featuring magic tricks, science experiments, comedy and more during two all-ages shows on June 25 from 10:30-11:30 a.m. and again from 2-3 p.m. at the Wausau Headquarters, 300 N. Families can attend a special story time about traveling to the planets and stars on June 25 from 10:30-11:30 a.m. at the Rothschild Branch, 211 Grand Ave., Rothschild. Hear stories, then make crafts related to the universe! Free. For more info, call 715-359-6208.

Knitters, crocheters, and crafters of all ages and experience levels are invited to create and socialize during Needle Arts Night on June 25 from 3-6 p.m. at the Rothschild Branch, 211 Grand Ave., Rothschild. No matter what kind of needle arts craft you prefer, you can work on your own project while talking with others and sharing techniques and ideas. We’ll provide the space and a selection of pattern books while you bring your own supplies.


Austin Albanito, a UWSP student of physics and astronomy, will discuss summer constellations and the significance of those constellations to Ancient Greeks, Native Americans and other cultures on June 26 from 10-11 a.m. at the Spencer Lions Park, South Park Street, Spencer.
