WAUSAU PILOT AND REVIEW
The Woodchucks offense started hot and stayed hot Thursday by hitting five home runs and scoring 13 runs to claim victory over the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters by a final score of 13-3.
The Woodchucks scored in each of the first five innings. In the first inning, Byron Murray led the scoring off with a solo home run. The Chucks added on two more runs in the first after a runner scored on a passed ball and Alec Arnone hit a sacrifice fly to center field that scored Kenny Rodriguez. The Chucks left the first inning with a 3-0 lead.
The scoring continued in the second inning when Cameron Swanger scored on a sacrifice fly from Byron Murray. TJ Reeves knocked in Brandon Seltzer with an RBI single. Reeves then scored after Kaeber Rog knocked him in with an RBI single. The Chucks left the second inning with a 6-0 lead.
The Woodchucks hit another home run in the third inning when Cameron Swanger sent the ball into left field, giving the Woodchucks a 7-0 lead. This was Swanger’s first home run of the year.
The Woodchucks scored five runs in the fourth inning. The runs were scored off the bats of Brandon Seltzer, Alec Arnone, and Santino Miozzi. Seltzer hit his fourth home run of the year and Miozzi hit his first of the year. The Woodchucks left the fourth inning with a 12-0 lead.
In the fifth inning, Byron Murray hit his second home run of the game and sixth of the year. This gave the Woodchucks a commanding 13-0 lead. The Rafters managed to score three late inning runs that led to a final score of 13-3 with the Woodchucks celebrating an impressive offensive outing.
Third baseman Byron Murray went 3-4 with three RBI and three runs. Murray hit two home runs and now leads the team with six.
Trey Horton made his second start on the mound for the Woodchucks. He pitched eight innings and allowed two runs (one earned) on eight hits. Horton walked two and struck out five. The Georgia State University product entered the ninth and came close to pitching a complete game until he reached the maximum pitch count of 110.
First baseman Santino Miozzi 2-4 with 3 RBI and one run. Miozzi hit a three-run home run in the fourth inning.
Designated hitter Cameron Swanger went 3-5 with one RBI and two runs. Swanger hit his first home run of the year.
Left fielder TJ Reeves went 3-3 with one RBI and three runs.
