The Badger State Games’ Summer Games are celebrating 35 years of Olympic-style sporting events, allowing athletes of all ages and abilities to compete for the gold. Those who medal are then eligible to compete in the State Games of America in Lynchburg, Virginia.

Here’s what’s coming up this weekend:

BSG Mountain Bike Series – Rock ’N’ Root

The Rhinelander Area Silent Trails Association will hold the eighth annual WEMS Rock ’N’ Root race at the Washburn Lake Silent Sports Trails Area, about 6 miles west of Rhinelander. This is the first year RASTA has partnered with Badger State Games to host this WEMS race. Medals will be awarded for short distance or three-hour race in seven categories. The course will use both single- and double-track to provide a demanding seven-mile loop. On-site registration is available up until 15 minutes prior to the start of each event.          10-hour race: 9 a.m.

         6-hour race: Noon

         3-hour race: 2 p.m.
