SCHOFIELD, Wis. — A Schofield father is facing felony child abuse charges after his son was allegedly left in a vehicle for 10 hours, according to an Everest Metro Police Department release.

Officers received a 911 call at 12:11 p.m. Sunday, July 28 requesting an ambulance in the city of Schofield. When they arrived, they discovered a mother holding a young child in her arms. Police say the 2-year-old child was left in the vehicle from 2 a.m. until about noon.

The child was ultimately flown to Marshfield Medical Center. An update on the child’s condition has not been specified.

The father has been taken into custody and will appear in court today. The Marathon District Attorney’s Office is reviewing the recommended charge of child neglect.

Police did not release the name of the suspect, but jail records show a 22-year-old man is in custody on those pending charges.

This story will be updated when additional details are released.
