A 22-year-old Medford man is dead following an early morning crash Saturday in the Taylor County town of Browning, according to a news release.

Taylor County Sheriff Larry Woebbeking identified the victim as Zach B. Smola.

The crash was reported at about 2 a.m. Nov. 9 on Hwy. 64 by a homeowner who said a vehicle had struck a tree in his yard and was lying on its roof.

Rescue crews pulled Smola from the vehicle and transported him to Aspirus Medford Hospital, where he later died of his injuries.

Police say alcohol and speed are considered factors in the crash. No other passengers were inside the vehicle.
