A 56-year-old Weston man is accused of sexually assaulting a woman who was sleeping on a couch at a Wausau home.

Tyrone A. Gentry faces charges filed Jan. 21 in Marathon County Circuit Court of second degree sexual assault of an unconscious victim.

Police say the alleged assault happened in August 2018 at a home on Wausau’s west side.

The alleged victim told police she was staying at the home of a friend when she fell asleep on the couch, then awakened to find Gentry lying on top of her with his hand down her pants and inside her underwear, according to court documents.

Court records show Gentry has previous convictions for possessing narcotic drugs, theft, disorderly conduct and strangulation/suffocation.

The most recent charge includes a repeat enhancer, which can result in additional penalties due to his previous convictions, the most recent of which was in June. At that time, Gentry was convicted of possession of narcotic drugs, a felony, and sentenced to 90 days in the Marathon County Jail.

Gentry is being summoned into court and will have an initial appearance Jan. 30, at which time a judge will set a bond amount.
