Tornado sirens that went off in the Wausau and surrounding areas at about 12:40 a.m. Thursday were not intentional, according to the Wausau Police Department.
The department alerted the public about the false alarm through a Facebook post.
Officials are working to determine why the sirens were activated unintentionally.
