Lois A. Vande Boom

Lois A. Vande Boom, 90, of Rib Mountain passed away peacefully at home , surrounded by her loving family.

Lois was born July 9, 1931, in Port Washington, daughter of the late Werner and Helen (Moths) Moegenburg.  On May 24, 1952, she married the love of her life, Roy Vande Boom, at Immaculate Conception Church in Saukville.  This year Roy and Lois would have celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary. 

Lois and Roy farmed in Saukville and Athens before retiring to Rib Mountain.  She was a devoted mother, homemaker, grandmother, and great grandmother.  She was a loving and supportive wife who worked hand in hand with her husband on the family farms.

Survivors include her husband, Roy Vande Boom, Rib Mountain, her children, Vicki Gauerke, Sherri (Scott) Krueger, Randy (Jan) Vande Boom and Dale (Sara) Vande Boom, ten loving grandchildren, twenty-two great grandchildren and her siblings, Ralph (Rosemary) Moegenburg and Glen (Jennifer) Moegenburg and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, January 29, 2022, at St. Mary Catholic Church, Marathon City.  Visitation will begin at the church at 9:30 a.m. followed by services at 11:00 a.m.   The Rev. Msgr. Joseph Diermeier will preside.  

The family would like to thank Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services for their care.

Gloria R. Pfingsten

Gloria Ruth (Erickson) Pfingsten, 92, left her earthly home for heaven on January 20th, 2022 under the care of Aspirus Hospice.

Gloria was born January 30, 1929 in Tomahawk to John Adolph & Jennie (Johnson) Erickson. She graduated from Tomahawk High School and rode the train to Wausau to work at Employers Mutual Insurance, retiring after 42 years. While still on the home farm, her brother Phil introduced her to his good friend, Walter Pfingsten. Gloria and Walter were married April 24, 1954 at St. John Lutheran Church in Merrill. They were members of a square dancing and a snowmobile club for years. After 61 years of marriage, Walter preceded her in death in June, 2015.

Gloria and Walter raised two sons, Randy & Greg, in Wausau.

Gloria enjoyed fishing, camping, traveling, reading, card games, and an occasional trip to a casino.

Besides Walter, Gloria was preceded in death by her parents, her mother and father-in-law, Alfred & Esther Pfingsten, her sister, Ella Rapel, and brothers Gordon, James, & Phillip Erickson, and daughter-in-law, Mary Pfingsten.

She is survived by her sons, Randy and Greg (Grace) Pfingsten, grandchildren Kaisha (Michael) Nash, Collin (Kiana) Pfingsten and Kiana Pfingsten, step grandson Chad (Kristen) Koerten, great-grandchildren Kinsley & Kaiser Pfingsten and Levi Nash, & step great-grandchildren Tanner & Beckett Koerten.

Funeral services will take place at Christ Lutheran Church, 1300 Townline Rd, Wausau, WI on Tuesday, January 25, 2022 at 11:00 am with visitation at 10:30 am and entombment at Restlawn Cemetery following the service. Reverend David Wetmore will officiate.

Mickey A. Ostrowski

Mickey (Marlene) Ann Ostrowski (nee Hamm) passed away peacefully on January 14, 2022 in the comfort of her home and in the presence of her husband, Barry. She was born in Elderon, WI on December 20, 1942 as an only child to Emil and Carolyn Hamm (nee Clifford).

Mickey married her husband of 58 years, Barry Ostrowski, on September 28, 1963 after four years of courtship and lived the entirety of her life in the Elderon/Wittenberg/Hatley area. Along with her loving husband, she leaves behind two dearly loved children – Tracey (Steve Uttecht) and Cale (Amy) Ostrowski. She was a loving grandmother to Lance and Matt Uttecht, Emily and Caleb Ostrowski, and dear great-grandmother to Kolby and Mylah Uttecht.

She is lovingly remembered as a fun woman who found joy in spending time with her family, camping, taking chances at the casino, and being with friends. Among the things she did in her life were being a homemaker, working at Joubert’s Mink Ranch, and owner of a Bar in Galloway, WI.

She had a fondness for animals, enjoying the companionship of many pets and watching the wide variety of birds and squirrels that would visit the feeders. She enjoyed reading and the many Western or Polka shows in her quiet time with Barry. Her friendship with others kept her active in her social circle, and she shared many fun memories with her grandkids of times gone by.
