A four-month-old baby suffered life-threatening injuries and six other people were injured in a crash Thursday involving three vehicles near Antigo.

The crash was reported at about 6:15 p.m. on Hwy. 45 near Hwy. G. The Wisconsin State Patrol reports the driver of a pickup crashed into a southbound car that slowed to make a turn into the parking lot of a business on the east side of the highway. The crash pushed the car into an oncoming vehicle.

The injured child was a passenger in the first car that was struck, police said. A 40-year-old woman and 36-year-old man riding in the vehicle were also injured and were transported to a hospital for treatment. They are expected to recover.

The pickup driver, a 37-year-old Birnamwood man, was transported to a local hospital for treatment of injuries that did not appear life-threatening. Police say he was not wearing a seat belt.

Three people in the northbound vehicle were also injured. Police say three Pelican Lake women, ages 63, 74 and 76, were transported to a hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

Police have not said whether any citations were issued in the crash. No names have been released.
