Wausau Pilot & Review

One person is dead and two people are injured in a crash Saturday near Ashland, according to the Wisconsin State Patrol.

The crash was reported at about 6:20 p.m. Feb. 26 on Hwy. 2 west of Birch Hill Road.

Police say a 2014 black Dodge Dart entered Hwy. 2 from a  residential driveway west of Birch Hill Road, which put the Dart in the path of a westbound 2018  white Chevrolet Equinox. The Equinox collided with the Dart and an eastbound 2007 black GMC  Sierra.  

The 37- year-old female driver of the Equinox was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver  and passenger in the Sierra were both transported by EMS with non-life-threatening injuries.  Names are being withheld pending notification of relatives.

Assisting agencies included Iron County Sheriff’s Office, Ashland County Sheriff’s Office, Ashland  Fire Department, Ashland EMS, Ashland County Coroner, Saxon Fire Department, and Odanah  Rescue.  

The Wisconsin State Patrol is conducting the crash investigation and crash reconstruction.
