WISCONSIN RAPIDS – D.C. Everest won eight events and set four new meet records at the 2024 Wisconsin Valley Conference Boys Swimming Meet on Thursday at Lincoln High School.

Stevens Point won its fourth-straight WVC Meet title, finishing with 386 points, and forged a tie with D.C. Everest (second, 329 points) for the overall conference title, which combines the conference dual meet season and the conference meet results. Wausau East/West placed fifth and tied for fourth in the overall final standings.

D.C. Everest won eight of the 11 swimming events and set four new conference meet records – as the 200 medley relay team of Will VanErmen, Adam Swedlund, Keaton Barwick and David Mayer won in 1:35.70, Barwick won the 50 freestyle (21.36), Mayer was victorious in the 100 freestyle (46.26), and VanErmen was first in the 100 backstroke (52.26).

Also earning wins for Evergreens were Mayer in the 200 freestyle (1:45.26), VanErmen in the 200 individual medley (2:03.32), Swedlund in the 100 breaststroke (1:03.21), and the 400 freestyle relay team of Wes Polley, Benjamin Soehl, Sean O’Donnel and Mayer (3:28.27).

Wausau East/West had one top-five finish as Colin Keele placed fifth in the 100 breaststroke in 1:07.60.

All five Wisconsin Valley Conference teams will compete at the WIAA Division 1 sectional meet on Saturday, Feb. 10, at Hudson.
