WHITE LAKE – The No. 11 seed Newman Catholic boys basketball team went on the road and picked up a playoff win on Tuesday night, downing No. 6 seed White Lake 44-29 in a WIAA Division 5 regional quarterfinal at White Lake High School.

Quincy Pfender scored 19 points and Lucas Pfiffner added nine in the win for the Cardinals.

Newman Catholic (5-20) will play a D-5 regional semifinal at No. 3 seed Stevens Point Pacelli (18-7) on Friday at 7 p.m. Pacelli advanced by beating Gresham 94-38 on Tuesday.
