Wausau East junior Jesse Napgezek was among the five players selected to the 2023-24 All-Wisconsin Valley Conference Boys Basketball Team, as voted on by the seven conference coaches following the season.

Napgezek led the WVC in scoring at 17.8 points per game in conference play (18.7 overall) while shooting 58.9 percent from the field for Wausau East, which placed third in the standings.

Joining Napgezek on the first team were Marshfield’s Brooks Hinson and Chris Pohl, and Stevens Point’s Grant Chandonais and Carter Combs.

Hinson was named the WVC Player of the Year as he led the Tigers in scoring at 16.8 points per game, in 3-pointers with 57, and in free throw percentage at 82.1 percent. Pohl averaged 14.6 points per game with 50 3-pointers.

Chandonais averaged 16 points and six rebounds per game, while Combs led the conference in assists at 7.3 per game while averaging eight points and 4.9 assists a game for Stevens Point.

D.C. Everest juniors Cohen Priebe and Casey Stuedemann, Wausau West senior Brett Butalla, and Wausau East junior Charlie Cayley were among the second-team picks.

Studemann led D.C. Everest in scoring at 13.9 points per game in conference play, while Priebe averaged 12.4 points per game with 20 made 3-pointers.

Cayley averaged 14.3 points per game and led the conference in rebounding at 11.1 per contest.

Butalla was West’s top scorer at 13.7 points per game.

Wausau East junior Jaydan Garrett and Wausau West senior Lucas Hager were honorable mention choices. Hager topped the conference in 3-point percentage at 46.2 percent and his 30 3-pointers were second in the WVC.

Marshfield’s Chris Fischer was named Coach of the Year as the Tigers won their third-straight WVC championship.
