Wausau Pilot & Review

WAUSAU – Stratford pitcher Laney Pankratz struck out 14 and allowed just three hits as the Tigers defeated Wausau Newman Catholic 5-1 in the Marawood Conference South Division softball opener for both teams on Tuesday at Sunnyvale Park.

The Tigers three times in the second inning as Mykayla Stueber had an RBI double, and Ashley Hollatz and Emerson Roy knocked in runs with singles.

Stratford upped its lead to 5-0 in the fourth and Pankratz did the rest, allowing just one fourth-inning run to earn the complete-game victory.

Paige Guld scored the Cardinals’ lone run on a Stratford error.

The two teams will play again Friday at Stratford.
