Between April 5, 2024, and April 11, 2024, the Everest Metro Police Department addressed various incidents across the region. Click here to skip to the full log from EMPD.

The week commenced with a serious traffic collision on the morning of April 5 at the 7600 block of Schofield Avenue, Village of Weston, where injuries were reported and a crash report filed, marking the case inactive.

On April 6, a string of incidents unfolded beginning with a shoplifting offense at the 4000 block of Schofield Avenue, which remains active. That same day witnessed a non-criminal grass fire at the 163000 block of Ross Avenue, and a notable drug-related arrest involving methamphetamine possession and drug paraphernalia at the 6000 block of Birch Street, which saw the case cleared by arrest. Additionally, a probation violation involving a no-contact order breach at the 3800 block of Weston Pines Lane led to another arrest. A hit-and-run crash, fortunately with no injuries, occurred on the 2100 block of Business Highway 51 in the City of Schofield, but the case is inactive.

On April 8, two bags of methamphetamine were found on the 1300 block of Everest Avenue without traceable ownership, resulting in the items being marked for destruction; this case too is inactive.

April 9 brought a report of threats at the 400 block of Moreland Avenue, which, after investigation, was deemed inactive. That day also saw an arrest for disorderly conduct following a firearm discharge incident on the 150000 block of Townline Road.

The week concluded on April 11 with two incidents. An officer responded to a traffic crash at Alderson Street and Jelinek Avenue in the Village of Weston, marking the case inactive after a report was filed. Moreover, a serious offense involving a motorcycle and automobile race on Schofield Avenue led to a dramatic chase, culminating in the motorcyclist’s arrest for fleeing from law enforcement and operating without a proper license. This case was also cleared by arrest.

These incidents reflect a varied week for the local law enforcement, dealing with everything from traffic accidents and thefts to drug offenses and firearm-related arrests.
