UW Madison and UW Eau Claire dominated the Division 1 Ultimate Frisbee competition men’s and women’s competition this weekend in Wausau.

The games were played at Brockmeyer Park and Stettin School on the city’s west side. Hundreds of players, coaches and spectators swarmed the grounds.

The teams from Madison won both the men’s and women’s D1 competition in final games against Eau Claire, played Sunday. The men won 15-10, pulling away after a close first half. The women won, 13-5.

All four teams were undefeated in pool play on Saturday.

In men’s Division 3, Michigan Tech was the winner.

Men’s teams in Division 1 included Wisconsin, Wisconsin Milwaukee, Marquette, Northern Michigan, UW Eau Claire, UW Whitewater, UW LaCrosse, and UW Stevens Point.

Women’s Division 1 competitors were Wisconsin, UW Milwaukee, UW Eau Claire, UW LaCrosse, Marquette. and the Wisconsin B team.

In men’s Division 3 games, Michigan Tech, Concordia, UW Platteville, Milwaukee School of Engineering, and Carthage played for the title.

The schools are in the Lake Superior region of USA Curling, the game’s organizer. Winners move on to regional competition in the coming weekends, with the national ultimate frisbee tournament set for Milwaukee on May 18-20 for Division 3, and May 24-27 in Madison for Division 1.
