Police have identified the woman who died Thursday in a two-vehicle crash on Hwy. 51 as 45-year-old Marisa A. Hagemann, of Manitowish Waters.

The crash was reported at about 6 a.m. Feb. 22 in the town of Hazelhurst on Hwy. 51 near South Blue Lake Road. Oneida County Sheriff’s deputies and emergency crews responded to the scene and requested extrication equipment and two helicopters due to the apparent injuries of the drivers involved.

Hagemann was airlifted to a medical facility but died on arrival, officials said. A second driver was also airlifted and was seriously injured in the crash. That victim’s name has not been released.

Initial reports from witnesses on scene said Hagemann was headed south when she crossed over the center line and crashed into the northbound vehicle.

The Oneida County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Oneida County Medical Examiner’s Office, Minocqua Fire Department, Hazlehurst Fire Department, Oneida County Ambulances, Lifelink, and Aspirus Medicvac. The Wisconsin State Patrol conducted a crash reconstruction, which led officials to close Hwy. 51 for more than three hours on Thursday.

The crash remains under investigation.
